The Manila city government launched on Tuesday an Action center where the public can inquire about the city's upcoming COVID-19 vaccination program.
Dr. Arnold "Poks" Pangan, Manila City Health Officer, said the Manila COVID-19 Vaccine Action Center (MCVAC) will assist individuals who will get vaccinated and answer concerns with regard to the vaccine itself.
"Our action center will be there to respond to the needs of individuals who will get vaccinated. The MCVAC will guide you from Step 1 until the post-vaccination process," Dr. Pangan said in a statement issued on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
The action center is part of the city government's preparation for the upcoming immunization of its residents, workers, and visitors to the city, Dr. Pangan said.
The city health officer encouraged the public to call MCVAC through the following numbers if they have any concerns about the upcoming vaccination program: 0927-351-0849, 0915-703-0621, 0968-572-1975, or 0961-020-2655.
There are at least 18 vaccination sites located in public schools in the city's six districts that will have three medical teams per site.
Dr. Pangan said an emergency response team equipped with the city's new ambulances will also be on standby at the vaccination sites to rush emergency cases to the nearest hospitals.
Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said the local government aims to vaccinate 1,000 individuals per day, with a "daily target of 18,000 citywide or 126,000 in seven days."
A "vaccination passport" from the Manila Health Department will be given to the vaccinated individuals, while the MCVAC medical personnel will conduct evaluations and reports about the vaccination program.
