Baseco drug buy-bust ends in shootout; 1 killed

An alleged drug personality was killed in a shootout with the police at the Baseco Compound in Port Area, Manila following a drug buy-bust operation on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Police identified the slain suspect as a certain "Popoy," of legal age.

Investigation showed that elements of the Baseco Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation against Popoy at around 2:50 a.m.

A poseur buyer reportedly bought a sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 from the suspect. When Popoy noticed the approaching police officers, he allegedly fired at them.

The suspect sustained injuries and was brought to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center where he died..

Investigation is ongoing.
