Sharon Cuneta posted on Instagram a video showing her husband Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan's relief efforts for Aetas in Porac, Pampanga last Friday, Feb. 12.
A part of Sharon's caption read: "Konting tulong sa ating mga Kababayan sa Porac. Sabi ko kay Kiko, dapat nilalabas niya ang mga ginagawa nyang pagtulong, kasi laging patago! Di yung puro pang-file lang para makita ng mga apo namin pagdating ng araw!"
The Megastar also mentioned her hopes the video would "inspire" other Filipinos to help those in need.
Despite the majority of comments commending the good deed, one netizen said the video may have "political motive."
In response to this, the "Mr. DJ" singer wrote a long statement to defend her husband and their motives, saying: "We also have to be sensitive about their sensitivities and maybe even their worries about integrating into what is known to them as 'another' society."
She highlighted the importance of preserving their culture and way of life.
Sharon also suggests that "Maybe it would help if people who judge our true intentions just took our efforts to help at face value and did something to help as well, instead of spending precious time finding things to criticize."
She ended it with "Pag may nakita, pintas pa rin. Pero okay na sa amin yung pintasan basta MAY TINUTULONG."
