LPA may enter PAR next week - PAGASA

A new low-pressure area (LPA) may enter the country in the next two days, the state weather agency said Sunday, Feb. 14, but it noted that the weather disturbance still has no direct effect yet on any part of the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was last spotted at 1,590 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

“Nanatiling may posibilidad na pumasok ito ng Philippine Area of Responsibility within the next 24 to 48 hours (There remains a possibility that it will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the next 24 to 48 hours),” said PAGASA Weather Specialist Ezra Bulquerin.

"Pero sa ngayon, wala itong direktang epekto sa alin mang bahagi ng bansa (But for now, it has no direct effect on any part of the country),” he added.
Meanwhile, the tail-end of a frontal system will affect weather conditions in the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas, while the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will persist over the rest of Luzon in the next 24 hours.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may be experienced in Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and the provinces of Palawan, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate due to the tail-end of the frontal system.

Amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Rest of Bicol Region, Aurora and Quezon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to amihan, while the rest of the country partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains.
