Lighthouse station to illuminate coastline in Ilocos Sur

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is set to construct a radar system facility and lighthouse station for marine safety in Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur.

The radar system facility and lighthouse station is set to be built in a 600-square meter land area in Barangay Tamorong, Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur donated by its local government unit (LGU).

“The construction of the radar system facility will support the PCG in upholding maritime law enforcement and maritime security, while the lighthouse station will further enhance maritime safety in the waters of Northwestern Luzon,” the Coast Guard said in a statement.

PCG Commodore Genito Basilio and Sta. Catalina Mayor Edgar Rapanut signed the deed of donation on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The PCG said it will also establish the Coast Guard Sub-Station Sta. Catalina at the donated land area to ensure that the infrastructure projects will be utilized and maintained efficiently.
