The new top-of-the-line
Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), distributors of Geely cars, has heard customers’ requests and is now offering a new variant for its Okavango seven-seater model, the Urban Plus. The Okavango is the third offering from Geely following the Coolray compact SUV and the larger Azkarra SUV. It’s unique in the lineup, being a seven-seater.
This new offering adds even more value to the original Urban variant. Like the former, it’s powered by a 190 PS, 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder engine paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
It carries Geely’s trademark “Expanding Cosmos” front grille, flanked by LED headlights, muscular haunches, wraparound LED taillights, and a minimalist style tailgate.
Easily its most appealing feature is the flexible interior, capable of seating seven adults comfortably in all three rows. Adjustable seating arrangements allow for 19 configurations. There’s an abundance of 42 storage nooks, and compartments including a double-layer console.
Like many modern seven-seaters, the Okavango has customizable seat layouts. The third row can easily be lifted up or folded flat. When flat, the SUV boasts of 1,200 liters worth of cargo space. With the third-row seats up, there’s still 257 liters worth of cargo. As an added bonus, even the second-row seats can be folded nearly flat, instantly turning it into a pickup when needed. With the two rows folded, it boasts of up to 2,050 liters of space.
The dashboard has a massive 10.25-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with QDLink, automatic climate control, and interior LED mood-lighting. It’s also equipped with a CN95 filtered triple-zone air conditioning system.
The new Urban Plus, however, hopes to be “Wonderfully Distinct Even More” with these additional features.
The first and perhaps most requested by buyers is a panoramic sunroof. As such, Geely has obliged with a 60-inch panoramic sunroof stretching over the first two rows. It comes with 3-layer shading materials to fully block the sun’s rays. Best of all, it’s fitted with a rainfall sensor with automatic shutdown function in the event of inclement weather.
Another exclusive feature is the ADB (Adaptive Drive Beam) Matrix LED Headlamps. They come with four lighting modes to match conditions in the city, highway, country roads, and other unique traffic situations. It comes with self-adjusting high and low beams, and an Automatic Headlight Leveler. Best of all, the headlights are linked to the steering, and turn into corners to help the driver see better.
The driver gets a 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Panel with variable displays and information, integrating music, radio, and other multimedia functions.
“For SGAP, it will all be about moving forward and cautiously beefing up the game this year. We will further reinforce our product line up for this year starting with the introduction of the Okavango Urban Plus variant and a few more updates and another model in the second half of the year,” SGAP Executive Vice President, Yosuke Nishi said.
The Geely Okavango Urban Plus is now available at all Geely showrooms starting at P1,478,000.00.
