Bro. Eli Soriano of 'Ang Dating Daan' passes away

Bro. Eliseo "Eli" Soriano of "Ang Dating Daan" has passed away. He was 73 years old.

This was confirmed by his religious group, Members Church of God International, in a Facebook post posted early Friday, Feb. 12.

“It is with deep sadness, yet with full faith in the Almighty, that we announce the passing of our beloved and one and only Bro. Eliseo ‘Eli’ Soriano - a faithful preacher, brother, father and grandfather to many,” the group said.

Soriano, the group said, started as a preacher in a small town in Guagua, Pampanga. “His fame and reputation of being the most sensible preacher in our time has gained international attention,” they added.

“The life of Brother Eli is an open book to many of us,” Members Church of God International said. “We were witness to his dedication and tireless efforts to propagate the undefiled words of God in the Bible,” it added.

Despite his death, the group assured the public that the programs and projects Soriano has initiated will continue. “Up to the last moments of his life, Bro. Eli Ali was able to fulfill his vow to the Almighty that manifests his love to serve the brethren,” the statement read.

Soriano was known as the host of the radio and television program “Ang Dating Daan,” which used to preach the gospel.

The program started airing on radio in 1980 and became a television program in 1983. (With a report from Richa Noriega)
