'Vaccine for VP? Let's see', says Roque

Malacañang said it will check if Vice President Leni Robredo has a place in the government's vaccination priority list as the country is set to receive its first batch of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines next week.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque made the statement after Robredo expressed willingness to be vaccinated in public while President Duterte is yet to reveal if he changed his mind about getting the jab in private.

In his Thursday presser, Roque said they will check if the Vice President has a place in the priority program.

"Tignan po natin sa listahan (Let's check the list) where she falls in the order of priority," he said.

On Monday, February 8, Roque said that President Duterte's family may not be prioritized in the government's vaccination program unless they have comorbidities or they decide to help to boost the public's confidence in the vaccine.

"Ang first family po, well, ang masasabi ko lang po, unless merong with comorbidity, hindi po talaga sila mabibigyan ng prayoridad (For the First Family, well, all I can say is unless some of them have comorbidities, they won't be given priority)," he said.

Public servants are the seventh in line in the government's priority list next to healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, frontline personnel, indigents, and teachers and social workers.

Roque said that as a senior citizen, President Duterte will be among the first Filipinos in the country to be inoculated.
