The improvement works on the access road leading to the falls in Burgos, Ilocos Norte has been completed, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar announced.

“The newly-completed access road will now serve as a faster and safer route as it cuts down the usual travel time of one hour from town proper of Burgos, Ilocos Norte to Kaangrian Falls in Barangay Paayas to just 40 minutes,” Villar said.

According to the Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office, the project involves the paving of a 868-lineal meter road with the budget of P9.40-million from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2020.

“This is such a perfect time for us to improve rural road networks to help establish livelihood opportunities for the locals as we slowly recover from the economic loss caused by the pandemic,” the secretary further said.

The famous Kaangrian Falls was discovered in 1998 and was usually flocked by tourists during the rainy season, which according to locals, is the best time to visit.
