Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Tuesday sent Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano a “safe recovery” message after the latter tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019).

“Sorry Ma’am; wish you safe recovery and all the best,” Locsin said in a tweet.
The home office of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is situated on Roxas Blvd. in Pasay City.
In a statement on Tuesday, Feb. 9, Calixto-Rubiano announced that she is currently in isolation after testing positive for the disease.
“I would like to inform everyone today that I experienced symptoms of COVID-19 which led me to undergo a PCR Test or swab test right away. The result turned out to be positive,” said the lady mayor and scion of the dominant political clan in Pasay City.
While contact tracing is already under way, Calixto-Rubiano was last seen attending the Barangay Peace and Order Summit - National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), a potential super-spreader gathering held on Feb. 6, 2021 at the P. Zamora Elementary School in Pasay City.
A barangay official who participated in the meeting said Calixto-Rubiano was seen “hobnobbing” with Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., Regional Director of the PNP-NCRPO, during the entire length of the anti-communist gathering.
“Towards the end of the program, the Mayor even had ‘selfie’ photos taken with many barangay colleagues who joined the meeting,” the barangay official, who requested anonymity, told the Manila Bulletin.
In the latest tally posted by the Pasay City Public Information Office on its official Facebook account, it showed that Pasay City has a total of 7,154 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 85 active cases, and 6,885 recoveries.
