Las Piñas City's chief executive assured on Tuesday that it's all geared up for the mass vaccination against COVID-19, targetting to inoculate 3,000 residents a day, and securing 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca.
Las Piñas City Mayor Mel Aguilar made the remark during the COVID-19 Vaccine CODE Team visit in the city.
"Our hope in fighting this pandemic has arrived. I will make sure that this program — from our screening sites, registration areas and vaccination centers in barangays in the city will run smoothly because securing the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens remains a priority" Las Piñas City Mayor Mel Aguilar said in Filipino.
To prove that the city is fully ready for the mass vaccination program, Dr. Juliana Gonzales of the City Health Office presented the local COVID-19 situation report of Las Piñas City and its COVID-19 Vaccination Plan.
The city recently held its simulation or dry run of the vaccination in the city on Monday at its vaccination site in Las Piñas Elementary School Central in P. Diego Cera, Barangay Elias Aldana. They presented the success of the event during the CODE team visit.
Aguilar said that this was done to show the public the city's clear, comprehensive, and concrete vaccination plan including its standards and processes to ensure its safety.
She also emphasized the safety of the vaccines that will arrive in the city and urged the citizens to cooperate with the government's vaccination program as vaccines are scheduled to arrive this month.
"I want to share with our citizens hope and love through our incentives and privileges in availing vaccination in out city," the mayor said.
The city has secured a total of 500,000 vaccine doses from British drug maker AstraZeneca and provided funds for it amounting to P200 million. It will prioritize frontline health workers, senior citizens, uniformed personnel, teachers and social workers, government workers, and other essential workers, PDLs and PWDs, OFWs and students based on the list from DOH.
