COVID-19 cases in PHL now at 540,227


The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday recorded more than 1,200 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

Based on the Feb. 9 Case Bulletin, the DOH reported 1,235 new COVID-19 cases.

This means that there are now a total of 540,227 COVID-19 cases in the country.

The DOH also reported 53 new recoveries bringing the total recoveries to 499,764.

As to the number of deaths, 65 new deaths were recorded which means that there are now a total of 11,296 fatalities due to COVID-19.  

And less the deaths and recoveries, the DOH said there remain 29,167 active COVID-19 cases in the country.

"Three duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 2 were recovered cases," said DOH.

Moreover, the Health department said, 59 cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

DOH said eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on Feb. 8, 2021.
