DAVAO CITY - The municipal government of Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur on Monday, Feb. 8, has announced the resumption of beach operations and beach activities in the town following its 15-day suspension amid the sudden surge of the positive cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Hinatuan Municipal Mayor Shem Garay issued Memorandum Order No. 2021-05 declaring that "the suspension of all beach operations and beach activities is hereby lifted and now be allowed to continue its operation."
All beach related activities were suspended and beaches were closed for 15 days last Jan. 21 until Feb. 4 pursuant to the Executive Order No. 02 series of 2021 to contain the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19.
As of February 8, Hinatuan has recorded 37 cases of COVID-19, with eight active cases. The town has also recorded 26 recoveries and three deaths
However, the order required all barangays and business establishments to follow the health protocols and guidelines imposed.
The local government of Hinatuan said the "allowed tourists and guests to enter the beach destinations are local residents of Hinatuan who must show their IDs and residents within Caraga Region who must show negative rapid test result if they are coming from high risk areas, and medical certificate if coming from low risk areas.
