Couple hacked to death in Pangasinan

BUGALLON, Pangasinan – A couple was found dead with multiple hack wounds in Sitio Oling, Barangay Hacienda, Bugallon, Pangasinan Friday.

Police Master Sgt. Rodolfo Q. Naungayan, officer-on-case, identified the victims as Obaldo Rodrigo, 54, and his wife Wilma, 58, residents of the area and both natives of Albay.

Naungayan said loader operator Pascasio Salamat, 40, of Barangay Hacienda, discovered the victims at around 5 a.m.

Wilma was found inside their shanty while Obaldo was outside.

They sustained multiple hack wounds in the body – Wilma had cuts on her face and side while both of Obaldo’s hands were almost severed and his neck slashed.

Police say that their assailants used a bolo to kill the victim.

“Malinaw na sinasangga ng biktima ang bawat tama ng itak kaya halos maputulan ng dalawang kamay, maliban pa sa ginilitan sa leeg, habang ang misis naman nito ay may mga tama sa kaniyang mukha at sa kaniyang tagiliran (Obaldo parried the attack, as a result, his hands were almost severed and his neck was slashed. Naungayan said that there are two persons of interest being investigated.

It was learned that the couple were caretakers in the area.

“Parang kinaiingitan ang magasawa sa kanilang binabantayan na lupa at ang dalawang persons of interest ay dati na ring nakaalitan sa barangay (The persons of interest were envious and they had a dispute with the couple in the barangay),” Naungayan said.
