DAVAO CITY - Davao City successfully implemented its security plan as one of the locations of the test run for the first-even digital bar examinations conducted by the Supreme Court of the Philippines last January 31.
In a statement from the City Information Office (CIO) on Thursday, Feb.4, Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) chief Col. Angel Sumagaysay said "the Supreme Court was gratified with the city government of Davao for the safe implementation of the mock bar examination of 27 examinees, which was successfully carried out within their target schedule."
He said the PSSCC conducted self-deployment on January 30, and implemented full deployment of its 63 personnel on January 31.
The Ateneo de Davao University was one of the four testing sites of the Pilot/Mock bar exams held last January 31. The other sites were Ateneo de Manila Professional Schools in Makati City, St. Louis University in Baguio City, and University of Cebu in Cebu City.
Sumagaysay said they have coordinated with the office of Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, the chairman of the 2020-2021 bar exams, to ensure security for the Pilot Bar examination.
“Our preparation was purely security to ensure that the mock bar examination will run smoothly. We coordinated with the representatives from the Supreme Court, particularly with the office of Justice Leonen,” Sumagaysay said.
Other forces from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), City Traffic and Transport Management Office (CTTMO), and Central 911 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were also deployed.
In a previous Bar Bulletin issued by Leonen on Jan. 8, 2021, he said the pilot Bar examinations "will be a small scale simulation of the actual Bar Examinations using computer software, proctored both physically and virtually."
"The goal of this exercise is to improve on the procedures and technical specifications for the first-ever digital and localized Bar Examinations in November 2021," Leonen added.
