'Quarantine hair'? No problem. Donate your locks for a cause

Want to finally let go of your quarantine hair? Now is the perfect time to do so because you can donate your locks for a cause.

The Makati Medical Center announced on Wednesday that it is now accepting hair donations for cancer patients.

“Make a cancer patient smile by donating your hair at MakatiMed Cancer Center,” read an advisory on the hospital’s Facebook page.

Based on the hospital’s donation guidelines, the donated hair -- whether curly, wavy, or straight -- must be a minimum of nine inches long.

The donated hair should be dry and ponytailed and placed in a “zip lock or resealable plastic bag with the donor's full name, contact number, and email address.”

Rebonded, colored, bleached, permed, or any chemically treated hair will not be accepted, according to MakatiMed.

Since walk-in donations are not allowed, those who wish to give their locks can send them via any courier except through same-day parcel delivery services such as Grab Express, Angkas, Lalamove, and Kwikmove.

Donors can send their hair donation to: Charmaine Gonzales, Makati Medical Center, Department: Cancer Center, 1st floor, Tower 1 #2 Amorsolo Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City, +632 8888-8999 local 7122.
