Over 60 kilos 'hot' lamb, beef seized from foreign travelers
More than 60 kilos of meat products bearing no permit were intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The meat products, which consist of 18 kilos of lamb and 42.2 kilos of beef, were confiscated from three arriving passengers from the USA and Saudi Arabia.
According to Port of NAIA District Collector Carmelita Talusan, the passengers failed to present Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) clearance in connection with the meat.
The seized meat products were turned over to the Bureau of Animal Industry for immediate disposal in order to prevent the influx of new viruses as well as the spread of diseases, including the very destructive African Swine Fever (ASF).
Talusan said that the Bureau of Customs-Port of NAIA “will continue to relentlessly confiscate all imported meat and meat products without the necessary permits.”
The district collector said that from January 2019 to December 2020, they were able to confiscate around 40,000 kilos of imported meat products from countries affected by ASF.
