Tagged as Southern Leyte's Maldives, the island also known as Pong Gamay boasts of its captivating white sand beach, scenic sights, and unspoiled waters.
The island, which is only about a 3-hour drive from Tacloban City, is comparable to the famous Dead Sea, the landlocked salt lake between Israel and Jordan since its high salinity makes one float for a while.
The Island offers tourists to swim or dive with schools of fish or simply enjoying the view of corals while staying in one of the floating cottages that can be rented between P200-P650.
Other activities include diving, snorkeling, camping, and island hopping to the nearest fish sanctuary at San Pedro Island. The island also has an excellent sunset view perfect for picture-taking or simply enjoying the island vibe.
Guests are reminded to coordinate with the Municipal Tourism Office, at least three days before their planned visit through 0931-728-5410.
Their Tourism Office is open from Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. There are no transactions during weekends and holidays. Walk-in guests are also not allowed.
Guests are likewise required to present a valid identification card, updated medical certificate, and Southern Leyte QR Code.
Overnight stay is allowed provided that health protocols are followed such as wearing face masks and face shields.
