DSWD warns public against fake text messages on social welfare funds for senior citizens
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) cautioned the public on Wednesday, February 3, against falling prey to circulating fake text messages on the supposed social welfare funds for senior citizens.

The DSWD clarified that the alleged social welfare relief funds, nor such assistance, do not exist.
"The Department appealed to the public to avoid engaging in such activities as well as sharing their personal details,” it said in a statement.
The text message, sent by a mobile phone user with contact number 09317549635 read, “Goodnews. Senior citizen po/mam. we contact you to receive social welfare funds. Email now for Claim/briefing-vf197705@gmail.com."
The DSWD advised the public to refer to the DSWD website, dswd.gov.ph, and to the Department’s official social media pages for information on its social welfare and development concerns and ongoing activities.
