Lapid pushes upgrading of extension campuses of Don Honorio Ventura State University in 10 Pampanga towns
The Senate higher education committee today begins hearing on a bill converting the extension campuses of Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) in 10 Pampanga towns into regular campuses of DHVSU.

The hearing of the committee chaired by Senator Joel Villanueva was opened with a statement of Senator Manuel ‘’Lito’’ M. Lapid thanking the Villanueva committee for considering his bill.
Lapid also sought the help of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in constructing a building as the Porac Extension Campus of DHVSU.
The current extension campuses of DHVSU are in Sto. Tomas, Porac, Lubao, Candaba, Apalit, Mexico, Sta. Rita, Floridablanca, Guagua and Sasmuan in Pampanga.
Lapid, who hails from Pampanga, said enactment into law of his bill does not only benefit residents of Pampanga but also students from neighboring provinces.
This would also mean quality tertiary education and cheaper education.
At present, local government units (LGUs) are helping into the operation of these campuses starting from infrastructure to salaries of teachers and other school expenditures.
Lapid said passage of his measure would mean that the national government would give regular appropriations to the DHVSU under the General Appropriations Act or national budget to support its operations.
