Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar turned over to the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) six compactor garbage trucks on January 31 for efficient collection of garbage all over the city.
Aguilar said that the compactor garbage trucks will be used not only for garbage collection but also for clearing operation and clean-up drive being conducted by members of CENRO.
She said the delivery of the compactor garbage trucks which the city government acquired was delayed due to the pandemic.
With the new compactor garbage trucks given to CENRO, Aguilar said the city government will ensure that there will be no more delay in the collection of garbage.
The mayor said that cleanliness of the environment is one of the priorities of the city government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease.
She also called on the city residents to continuously observe health and safety protocols especially in going out of their houses by always wearing face mask and face shield and to practice physical distancing.
The city government based on the report of the City Health Office has a total of 62 active cases of COVID-19 and 215 deaths.
At the start of the pandemic, the city government recorded a total of 5,819 confirmed cases and 5,542 recoveries.
