Manila Archdiocese makes 'We Give Our Yes' recessional song until 2022

Starting February 6, the recessional song in all Masses in the Archdiocese of Manila will be the 500 Years of Christianity Official Mission Song "We Give Our Yes."

"This will serve as our recessional song in all our Masses in parishes, schools, and communities in the Archdiocese of Manila, until the culmination of the celebration in 2022," Father Kali M. Llamado, Minister of Music Archdiocese of Manila, said in a circular letter dated January 28.

"We encourage our choirs to start learning the song and to highlight it on February 7, Sunday, as we open the 500 Years celebrations in our parishes," he added.

Llamado asked parish priests, shrine rectors, chaplains, parish worship coordinators coordinators of music ministers, and transparochial communities in the archdiocese to coordinate with their parish Youth Ministry, Catechetical Ministry, and school Campus Ministry "so they could guide the people in doing the action for the song."

Composed by Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo, a priest from the Archdiocese of Manila, the official lyric and action video of the song may be viewed on https://youtu.be/i7ObZDVUqGU.

In a video posted on the Facebook page of the 500 Years of Christianity-Archdiocese of Manila, Marcelo said he composed the song in 2015 for the National Mission Congress in the Philippines.

"The song 'We Give Our Yes' speaks of the coming 500th year of Christianity here in the Philippines. Instead of being  nostalgic, the song invites us to look forward and that is to claim our mission. What is that mission? To fulfill the mission of Jesus," he said.

The Official Mission Song is sang by inspirational diva Ms. Jamie Rivera, the voice behind some of the Church theme songs such as the Jubilee Song, Only Selfless Love, Awit sa Ina ng Sto. Rosario, Heal Our Land, and We Are All God’s Children.

The official release of the song is set on January 29, Friday, on all digital platforms.
