BI to hire 195 immigration officers for airports, seaports

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is hiring 195 immigration officers to augment personnel assigned at international airports and seaports nationwide.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said they have opened the applications for Immigration Officer I.

Interested parties may submit their application to the BI website: careers.immigration.gov.ph.

“We are filling out vacant positions to maximize personnel in anticipation of new international airports to open in the next few years, as well for deployment to our border crossing stations,” said Morente.

Plantilla positions for one Attorney 4, and one Attorney 3 are also available.

According to Morente, immigration officers with a Salary Grade Level 11 are required to be a graduate of a four-year course, and have a Career Service Professional Second Level Eligibility from the Civil Service.

The BI chief said that once hired, the recruits will undergo rigorous training under the agency's Center for Training and Research (CTR) prior to their deployment.

"We are looking at the possibility of conducting a virtual training for the new immigration officers,” he added.

The trainees will be housed at the Philippine Immigration Academy in Clark, Pampanga where they will undergo a two-month training on immigration laws and procedures.
He said the bureau plans to hold virtual training due to the coronavirus disease pandemic.

“Despite this limitation, we will make sure that the hired immigration officers pass the course first before being deployed,” said Morente.
