2 more Negrense ROFs to face legal action for claiming to be LSIs

BACOLOD CITY – Two more returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) from Negros Occidental will face charges for falsification of public documents after they declared themselves as locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the two ROFs actually came from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Just last week, five returning Negrenses from the United Kingdom (UK) were also probed for not disclosing their point of origin amid the threat of the new COVID variant from UK.

Of the five of them, a couple tested positive of the virus, and will also be charged by the provincial government for misdeclaration after they identified themselves as LSIs.

Diaz said the Provincial Legal Office was already preparing the case against them, adding that they will request the Provincial Board to pass a resolution to authorize Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to file the case.

He said they have already sent a letter to the National Inter-Agency Task Force informing them of such cases happening at the ground.

“They should plug the gaps to ensure that it will not happen again in the future," he added.
