Senator admires Lorenzana's humility in admitting AFP's blunder

Opposition Senator Francis ‘’Kiko’’ N. Pangilinan on Tuesday welcomed the apology of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on its ‘’imprudent’’ release of a list of red-tagged alumni.

‘’I know of many in the AFP who adhere to the strictest tenets of excellence, professionalism. Those behind giving the AFP and the DND (Department of National Defense (DND) this 'black eye' should be punished,’’ Pangilinan, a former student leader, said.

Senator Panfilo M. Lacson, chairman of the Senate national defense and security committee, said on Monday that it takes a lot of humility for National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana to publicly apologize for the AFP's blunder.

‘That said, the AFP leadership must see to it that the ones directly responsible for such an error are censured accordingly not only for putting the defense establishment in an awkward and embarrassing position but more so, the possible dire consequences that could occur because of such irresponsible and imprudent act,’’ he said.
