The camp of Manny Pacquiao dismissed Ryan Garcia’s claim that they are scheduled for a super fight after the latter posted a teaser on social media sites on Monday.

Garcia, the WBC interim lightweight champion, thrilled fans when he announced that he would be facing the Filipino boxing icon whom he considers as an inspiration.

“A dream turned reality. It’s an honor to share the ring with ,” the WBC interim lightweight champion wrote on his official Instagram account on Monday.

Through Pacquiao’s special assistant Jayke Joson, the fighting senator said Garcia is still young and has yet to prove himself as a worthy opponent for the only eight-division world champion.

“Hindi ganun kadali,” said Joson. “Paghihirapan mo ng husto yon.”

Joson added that Pacquiao’s focus is devoted in helping the Filipinos amid the challenges of the pandemic.

“Honestly sa ngayon hindi niya priority ang boxing,” he said. “Mas mabigat ‘yung laban ni ngayon… laban ng bawat Filipino at diyan siya naka-focus ngayon kung paano maitawid ang ating mga kababayan dito sa pandemyang COVID.”
