Number of COVID-19 cases in Davao region breaches 16,000-mark


DAVAO CITY - The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases recorded in Davao region breached the 16,000-mark over the weekend.

The Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD) recorded a total of 277 new cases of COVID-19 in the region. including 239 cases on Saturday, January 23, and 38 on Sunday, January 24.

The total number of recorded cases in Davao region is now at 16,105 with 2,592 active cases.

Of the new cases recorded, Davao City recorded 128 new cases, including 112 cases on Saturday, and 16 on Sunday.

Davao City has recorded a total of 10,974 COVID-19 cases, with 1,479 active cases.

The region also recorded a total of seven deaths over the weekend. Six of the fatalities were from Davao City, while one was from Davao Oriental. 

Currently, the region has reported 637 deaths due to COVID-19. The most number of fatalities were from Davao City, which recorded 505 deaths. 

Meanwhile, the region has recorded a total of 12,876 recoveries after 235 patients recovered over the weekend.
