JCI Philippines and the Outsanding Young Men Awards foundation has recently announced the seven Filipinos honored as 2020’s Top Outstanding Young Men (TOYM). These seven honorees were chosen from over 100 nominations for inspiring others with their contributions in their respective fields.

These seven are the following.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, for advocating for transparency in government and for his quick response to the outgoing Covid crisis.

David Almirol Jr., founder and CEO of Multisys Technologies Corp., for his contributions to the local science, technology, and engineering scene.

Lesly Jeanne Cordero, a young lawyer who works as senior disaster risk management specialist at the World Bank, for her efforts to advance the political and social sciences.

Edgar Elago, a teacher who has been working tirelessly for community education and development.

Dr. Raymond Francis Sarmiento, director of the National Telehealth Center at the UP Manila-National Institutes of Health (NIH), for his efforts to improve the country’s medical industry.

For 61 years, the TOYM awards has been highlighting the accomplishments of Filipinos who have demonstrated positive changes in their pursuit of excellence, the foundation says on its Facebook page. This year’s roster of awardees are no less special, particularly since 2020 has been one heck of a year.

“It was a very special year that proved how strong Filipino resilience and excellence could stand out even in the hardest of times,” says Chaye Cabal-Revilla, TOYM foundation president.
