PH COVID tally nears 510,000; 2,178 new cases recorded

The Philippines' COVID-19 tally climbed to 509,887 Friday after 2,178 new infections were confirmed by the Department of Health (DoH).

According to the latest case bulletin, Quezon City logged the highest number of new cases with 148, followed by Bulacan with 88, Cebu City with 80, Davao City with 79, and Mountain Province with 75. 

The DoH also reported 250 more survivors, bringing the recovery total to 467,720, while the country's death toll rose to 10,136 with 20 new fatalities.

There are also 32,031 active cases or patients undergoing treatment or quarantine – 83.6 percent are in mild condition, 9.5 percent are asymptomatic, 4.1 percent are in critical condition, 2.3 percent have severe symptoms, while 0.42 percent have moderate symptoms.

"Eight duplicates were removed from the total case count. Moreover, five cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation," the DoH said.
