6 Visayans exposed to man infected with COVID variant test negative

CEBU CITY – Six persons from Central Visayas who were exposed to the man who tested positive for the UK variant of  COVID-19 tested negative for the virus.

Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, information officer of the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development, said they  were the co-passengers of the man carrying the UK variant of the virus on Emirates Flight EK 332.

Loreche said swab samples were taken from the six persons but their COVID-19 tests yielded negative results.Two of them are from Bohol, three from Cebu, and one from Negros Oriental.

Although they tested negative for COVID-19, they still have to be isolated in a quarantine facility.

They will end their quarantine on Jan. 23, Loreche said.
