As it marks its 70th founding anniversary this month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said the public can expect “strengthened” delivery of social protection services to the country’s poor and vulnerable sectors.
"As DSWD reaches another milestone, the agency pledges to continue to strengthen its delivery of prompt and compassionate service to the poor and vulnerable sectors to enable them to meet the challenges of the pandemic and evolving challenges of the decade,” it said in a statement.
This year’s theme is “DSWD@70: Kabalikat ng Mahihirap sa Panahon ng Pandemya.”
According to the DSWD, its month-long celebration "will focus on recognizing the invaluable service of DSWD personnel, partners, beneficiaries, and stakeholders who contributed towards the improvement of DSWD’s operations, especially during the ongoing pandemic.”
On January 29, the Department is expected to grant Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Awards to officials and employees for their outstanding contributions in the improvement of government operations. On the same day, Loyalty Awards will be conferred to employees and officials who have rendered 10 years or more of faithful government service.
Meanwhile, the PaNata Ko (Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon) sa Bayan Awards will be given to stakeholders and partners who have supported and contributed to the successful implementation of DSWD's programs, projects, and services.
The PaNata Ko sa Bayan acknowledges the efforts of individuals, groups or organizations whose "panata" or vow is to share their resources and time in providing a better opportunity for the disadvantaged sectors, the DSWD said.
A photo exhibit featuring the DSWD’s milestone programs that uplifted the well-being of poor Filipinos is also expected during the anniversary celebration.
To be featured are the following programs: the Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (CIDSS) which became the basis for the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS); the Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran (SEA-K) Project, now known as the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP); the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or the Listahanan; the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps); the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP); the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SocPen) Program; the Bangsamoro Umpungan sa Nutrisyon (BangUN); the Lingap at Gabay Para sa May Sakit (LinGap sa Masa); and the Yakap Bayan Program which provides holistic interventions to assist recovering persons who use drugs (RPWUDs).
