BJMP fasttracks probe of rape case involving jail warden

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is letting the wheels of justice take its own course after Taguig City Deputy Jail Warden Senior Insp. Ramon Carolino was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly raping a boarder in his boarding house in Pasay City.

BJMP chief Jail Director Allan Iral ordered his men to expedite the conduct of the investigation “relative to possible administrative liabilities of the said officer.’’

He assured that the BJMP “reaffirms its strong position against any form of abuses on women and does not condone nor tolerate such acts especially if committed by its members.’’

“Any misdemeanors and forms of abuses on women have no place in a civilized society,’’ Iral said.

NBI agents nabbed Carolino last Jan. 19 after a border in his boarding house in Pasay City filed a complaint with the agency that she was raped by the suspect.

The NBI said that Carolino and four of his borders, including the victim, had a drinking spree. The victim said that a drunken Carolino pointed his gun at her while she was washing her hands and raped afterwards.

Carolino denied the victim’s claim when he was arrested by the NBI and is now facing rape charges.
