VP Leni visits Laguna, gives cash aid to COVID-hit areas

Communities in Laguna were the latest areas visited by Vice President Leni Robredo as her office continues to extend assistance to those reeling from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Robredo first visited Southville 7 Credit Cooperative in Calauan town, where she handed over cash aid to its members to help them start their rice retailing business. 

She went live on her official Facebook page to give details about her trip.

The vice president said the cash assistance was intended for capitalization and business operations support.

“This is only the first step of our livelihood and training program,” Robredo said. “Part of this is their training.”

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has been supporting various communities and sectors in need around the country through livelihood subsidies.

Last week, Robredo went to Sta. Maria, Bulacan for the turnover of livelihood aid to female sewers who were tapped by her office to locally produce personal protective equipment (PPE) sets.

Also among the beneficiaries  were members of two urban poor groups in San Jose del Monte and Meycauayan.

In Laguna, she also met with fisherfolks in Brgy. Lecheria, Calamba to give them cash aid that would boost their production of bottom soft gill nets. 

Recipients of the livelihood assistance from OVP also included residents of Cabuyao for their bakery and pastry food carts business and the Pederasyon ng mga Mangingisda at Mamamayan ng Biñan in support of their eco handbags production.
