No tsunami threat due to Argentina tremor - Phivolcs


The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Tuesday that there is no threat of a tsunami in the country following the magnitude 6.6 earthquake that struck Argentina.

In its latest bulletin, Phivolcs said the strong earthquake occurred in Argentina's west-central province of San Juan at 10:46 a.m. Tuesday in the Philippines, located at 32.0°S, 68.7°W.

The said earthquake had a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), according to Phivolcs

"No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data. There is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake," Phivolcs added.
