Tugade vows rehabilitation of Aparri port this year


CAGAYAN – The rehabilitation of the Port of Aparri and other transportation infrastructure in Cagayan province will be undertaken this year.

This was assured by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade in a visit to the province where he led the distribution of an initial batch of 100 fiberglass motorized boats in the town of Claveria.

According to Tugade, the rehabilitation of the Port of Aparri has already been slated to start in the third quarter of 2021.

He also said the Claveria Port will be repaired, and a breakwater will be built to further protect it.

Tugade likewise bared that the Tuguegarao City Domestic Airport was set to be expanded and extended and so that it could operate 24/7 with the recent signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the city government of Tuguegarao.

Tugade was joined here by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, who is also a native of Cagayan.

The two cabinet secretaries assured that an additional 170 boats will be distributed in the province.

Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba through the two secretaries thanked  President Rodrigo Duterte for the continued assistance to the province.
