Smart Omega barely broke a sweat in sweeping Impunity KH of Cambodia, 2-0, to snag an upper bracket spot in the M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship on Monday night at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.

Salic "Hadjizy" Imam's Yi Sun-shin and EJ "Heath" Esperanza's Hilda carried the fight in the opener while it was a Lapu-Lapu show for Jankurt "KurtTzy" Matira in the clincher, allowing Omega to wrap up the series in just 23 minutes.

The MPL Philippines Season 6 runner-up came through with a flawless campaign in Group B as it thrashed MPL Malaysia-Singapore champion Todak, 2-0, earlier in the opening match of the $300,000 (over P14 million)  tournament.

Heath's Hilda made life hard for Impunity's carry Bruno, continuously harassing him in the jungle and denying him the buffs while giving Hadjizy's Yi Sun-shin a lot of space to farm.

Hadjizy easily secured his core items and went ham from then on as he secured the Lord kill in less than 10 minutes and capped the 13-3 victory with a maniac a few moments later.

It was KurtTzy's turn to grab the spotlight with his Lapu-Lapu in Game 2 as he won the 1v1 duels against Impunity's Thamuz and Benedetta on his lane.

Armed with Festival of Blood and key items Bloodlust Axe, Sea Halberd and Blade of Despair, KurtTzy turned in a perfect record of seven kills and six assists in the 21-4 rout in just 12 minutes.

SEA Games gold medalists Jeniel "Haze" Bata-anon and Kenneth Jiane "Kenji" Villa were also instrumental with their Mathilda and Uranus, respectively, as they provided the needed magic damage and sustain in team fights.

Smart Omega will just wait for its upper bracket opponent in the playoffs which will start on Friday, January 22.

Meanwhile, reigning MPL-PH champion Bren Esports will begin its M2 campaign on Tuesday, January 19 against 10S Gaming Frost of Japan and Alter Ego Esports of Indonesia in Group C tagged as the "Group of Death".
