Major Tyrone Valenzona, Makati Police Assistant Chief of Police for Operations (ACOPO), identified the suspect as Alexander Lipas, 51, of Cavite City.

The police report showed that the complainant, Pate Tan and his bodyguard, John Bacay spotted the suspects who were walking along Chino Roces St. in Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati Thursday afternoon (January 14).

Tan and Bacay confronted the men, but the suspects quickly fled on foot except for Lipas who was collared by Bacay and brought him to the Makati City Central Police Station.

On November 20, 2020, Lipas and his four still unidentified cohorts reportedly tricked Tan by telling him that keys and coins were left at the back of his luxury car. Tan went to check the back of his car, not knowing that the suspects were already stealing the bags.

The stolen items consist of a Louis Vuitton handbag worth P30, 000, a Gucci wallet worth P70, 000, and another Luis Vuitton bag worth P140, 000. The mobile phone of Tan worth P80, 000 was also reportedly taken.

Tan told probers the missing bags contained around P660, 000 cash.

Valenzona and newly-installed Makati Police chief Col. Harold Depositar urged other victims of the group to lodge a complaint against Bacay and his cohorts.

Valenzona said Lipas had been arrested before for stealing.

The Makati Police is now on the hunt for the four other suspects.
