106 new COVID-19 infections recorded in Davao City

DAVAO CITY – New cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in this city continued to make a surge, with 106 infections reported on Friday, January 16, that jacked up the number of active cases here to 1,358.

According to the Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD), there were also two fatalities reported in Davao City on Friday.

For the whole region of Davao, DOH-DCHD said there were 171 new cases, with 30 posted in Davao del Norte, 16 in Davao del Sur, 11 in Davao de Oro, and eight in Davao Oriental.

Active cases also went up in Davao region, now at a total of 2,356. Apart from Davao City, Davao del Norte still has 561, while Davao Occidental has the least number of active cases with 37.

The region has already recorded 14,654 total COVID-19 cases to date.

Davao City has recorded the highest number of deaths with 474, followed  by Davao del Norte with 55, Davao del Sur with 37, Davao de Oro with 17, Davao Oriental with 11, and Davao Occidental with four.

Meanwhile, 117 recoveries were reported on Friday. The DOH said 86 were from Davao City, 18 were from Davao del Sur, five were from Davao del Norte, and two were from Davao de Oro. The region has a total of 11,700 recoveries.
