Husband slits wife’s throat in front of their children in Negros town

BACOLOD CITY – The homecoming of a woman, who had been working in Manila for the past two years, turned tragic after she was killed by her husband at the height of a heated argument in their house in Purok 1, Barangay Yao Yao, Cauayan, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, January 13.

Police identified the victim as Precilla Mediona, 50.

Mediona was reportedly killed by her husband, Eduardo Mediona, 58, who slit her throat right in front of their children.

Staff Sergeant Cyrus Maquiling, investigator of Cauayan Municipal Police Station, said the victim arrived in the province last December, and stayed at her daughter’s house for a while after she figured in a series of argument with her husband, Eduardo.

According to Maquiling, the argument centered on Precilla’s inquiries on where the money she had been sending for the renovation of their house went.

On January 13, the victim returned to their house, but only to figure in another verbal tussle with her husband.

Incensed, Eduardo reportedly took a knife, and slit his wife’s throat in front of their children.

Precilla still had some strength to run away from her enraged husband, and seek help at the nearby barangay hall. She was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead.

Maquiling said Eduardo immediately left the crime scene, and continues to be at-large. He will be facing parricide charges.
