Woman stabbed 20 times by live-in partner fighting for her life


URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan --- A 22-year-old woman is fighting for her life after she was stabbed  20 times by her live-in partner during a heated argument in Zone 4, Brgy Nancamaliran West, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

A report from Pangasinan Provincial Police Office identified the victim as  Elka Marie Cambay and the suspect as her live-in partner Rodolfo Jimenez, a construction worker. Both are residents of Zone 4, Brgy Nancamaliran West, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

Sgt. Rodolfo Sumio Jr  of the investigation division of Urdaneta City Philippine National Police confirmed that the victim sustained 20 stab wounds in her back, shoulders, and abdomen.

Investigators said that at around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday January 13, the victim and suspect were having a heated argument inside their house reportedly about the men Cambay encounters at work.

“Taga singil ang biktima sa palikuran sa bayan at ang mga lalaki na nakaencounter ng biktima ay pinagseselosan ng suspect, “ police told the Manila Bulletin. (The victim collects the fees for the use of the male public toilet in the city and the suspect feels jealous about this.)

Jimenez reportedly took a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbed the victim. 

Cambay remains in a critical condition at the Divine Hospital, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan while a manhunt was launched against Jimenez who fled after the incident.
