Selena Gomez to cook adobo in the new season of her cooking show

The Hollywood star gets busy with Filipino cuisine and more

If there is one dish any foreign visitor in the Philippines should try, it is adobo. It's so popular that every region and island of the country has their own spin on the classic, ultimately paying homage to the meal that graced every Filipino dining table. Its fame has even reached places beyond the Philippines, particularly, Selena Gomez's kitchen.

In her cooking show, Selena + Chef, the Hollywood actress flexes her culinary skills and whips up dishes and other cuisine with esteemed chefs guiding her. Based on its second season trailer, adobo is among the dishes she will prepare on the show.

With the help of Filipino-American celebrity chef Jordan Andino, owner of New York Filipino taqueria Flip Sigi and host at the Food Network, Selena prepares not only adobo, but also what seems to be the iconic street food turon. Chef Jordan's grandmother also makes an appearance on the show to judge their food. When Selena asked how her adobo looks, grandma gave a casual "it's okay," which makes them burst into laughter.

Selena + Chef season 2 will be available for streaming on HBO Max starting Jan 21. Watch the trailer here:
