ILOILO CITY— Authorities have seized P800,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) from the alleged top drug dealer in this city.
Police Regional Office (PRO-6) identified the suspect as Antonio “Boboy” Bretaña Romero, reportedly the Top 1 high-value drug personality by the Western Visayas regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-6).
PRO-6 spokesman Lt. Col. Joem Malong said the 45-year-old Romero was arrested in a buy-bust operation by members of PRO-6’s Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU-Team 3) and PDEA-6 agents.
Romero tried to sell two plastic sachets of shabu worth P50,000 to an undercover agent when he was busted.
Aside from the two sachets of shabu, police officers and PDEA-6 agents also found additional shabu from Romero’s bag. The confiscated shabu was around 115 grams.
Malong said Romero could be in the process of delivering the shabu to different sellers in the city.
Romero is facing charges of violating Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.
PRO-6 Director Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda vowed that curbing illegal drug trade will remain as one of the top priorities of the police in the Western Visayas region.
