Newly-built Sibut Bridge in Nueva Ecija open to all vehicles
A newly-constructed bridge, replacing the old dilapidated structure along San Jose-Rizal Road in Nueva Ecija, was recently opened to all types of vehicles, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced.

Sibut Bridge along San Jose–Rizal Road in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija is now open to general traffic, Villar said.
“Now that the Sibut Bridge is open to all types of vehicles, it should help spur the local economy and provide ease of travel between San Jose City and the town of Rizal here in Nueva Ecija."
It was built under a P240-million fund. It became fully accessible on January 7.
“Good news is that through this bridge, travel time is now cut to only 30 minutes,” Villar said.
He added that prior to completion of the bridge, residents and other motorists have to go through an hour and 15 minutes of travel from San Jose City to the town of Rizal.
As the existing overflow bridge is already worn out, traffic during inclement weather has to be rerouted and light vehicles have to pass through a circuitous route and cross the river via a narrow bridge in Barangay Tulat, prolonging travel to about an hour and 15 minutes to reach the town of Rizal.
Sibut Bridge is 240 meters in length, comprising eight spans on seven piers, and has sufficient height to allow the river discharge without fear of being overtopped by flood waters.
According to the department, the project is part of the long-term plans of the government for overall connectivity improvement in the countryside.
