CEBU CITY – An estimated P5.4-worth of the highly regulated drug Nubain was seized from a worker of a cargo forwarding firm in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, early Tuesday, January 12.
Police identified the suspect as Dioscoro Colo, a 33-year-old worker of a cargo forwarding company and a resident of Badian town, southern Cebu.
Levi Ortiz, regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7), said it was the Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), which conducted the case build-up that led to Colo’s arrest.
Led by Police Lt. Col. Warren Dablo, police caught the suspect selling 21,600 ampules of Nubain to a poseur-buyer on Sangi Road.
Ortiz said the seized Nubain may have been intended for clandestine parties that will be held during the Sinulog.
Ortiz said Nubain, a regulated painkiller, is a known party drug in Metro Cebu.
A concoction of shabu and Nubain called “milkshake” can only be found in Metro Cebu, said Ortiz.
“This mixture is very potent. It can cause death if the human system can’t take its effects,” said Ortiz.
Ortiz said the PDEA 7 is monitoring certain individuals and establishments peddling Nubain.
