Chinese national robbed of P2 million by 4 fellow Chinese in Parañaque City


A Chinese national who was fooled by an advertisement posted online was robbed of some P2 million cash by four fellow Chinese on Monday night in Parañaque City.

Police identified the victim as Zhang Huai Zhen, 24 and a resident of 227 F. Sanchez St., Pasay City.

Three of the four suspects, who were arrested by patrolling barangay watchmen and now detained at the Parañaque police custodial facility, were identified as Wang Chao, 31; Tang Neng, 32; Qui Long Qing, 25, all residents of Parañaque City.

Investigation showed the incident happened at about 10:00 pm. along Sta. Ana I St. corner Daang Batang, Barangay Moonwalk Parañaque City.

Zhen told the police that he saw an advertisement on the internet posting lower exchange rates from peso to RMB.

According to report, the victim immediately contacted the number that appeared in the advertisement and set a date and place to meet.

When Zhen met with the suspects and while having conversation, one of them sprayed his eyes with a chili spray and forcibly took his bag containing P2 million cash.

The police said the victim was still able to shout for help and the barangay watchmen who were patrolling along the area were able to arrest the three suspects while the one who had the victim’s bag managed to escape. 

Police recovered from the arrested suspects two .45 caliber pistols both loaded with eight live ammunition, one .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition, and one chili spray.

The suspects were charged with robbery and violation of RA 10591 or illegal possession of firearms.
