A collaboration between the Department of Science and Technology - Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) and the Korea Association of Machinery Industry (KOAMI) is in the works to set up a Mold Technology Support Center (MTSC).
The MTSC will serve as a training facility where human resources needed by die and mold companies will be developed. The MTSC, located at the Cavite Economic Zone, is an Official Development Assistance (ODA) project of the Korean government to the Philippines which began in 2019.
The DOST-MIRDC and KOAMI formalized and strengthened commitments to ensure that MTSC project goals are met during the signing of the records of discussion last December.
The MTSC project team is set to complete the construction of the MTSC facility by June 30, 2021. Along with the completion of the MTSC facility, the MTSC project team is committed to implement local training focused on die and mold-related technologies.
“Die and mold businesses within and outside economic zones are encouraged to send training participants,” DOST said.
“Not only will there be local experts to conduct the training, the MTSC will offer use of the most modern software and top-of-the-line die and mold technologies to boost the skills set of local human resources. It is envisioned that the MTSC will play a significant role in developing a more productive and competitive manufacturing industry in the country,” it added.
