Mandaluyong signs deal with AstraZeneca for vaccine purchase

The Mandaluyong City government has inked an agreement for the procurement of coronavirus vaccines from AstraZeneca, Mayor Carmelita Abalos said Monday (January 11).

“We saw the urgency of the matter and had to act fast,” the mayor told the Manila Bulletin in a text message.

Abalos, however refused to disclose how many doses the local government unit was securing  citing a non-disclosure clause in the agreement.

The local government has allotted P200 million for the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccines.

She said the national government will also provide the city vaccines to ensure that all residents of the city will be inoculated.

Abalos has already formed a committee that would oversee the procurement of the vaccine.

“We will try to get all Mandaleños vaccinated once the vaccine is available so we ask for everyone's cooperation,” she said.
