New healthcare facility built in Marawi

The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed the construction of a new healthcare facility in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

DPWH Secretary and Chief Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar said that the Sagonsongan Multi-purpose Building in Barangay Sagonsongan Relocation Site has been temporarily transformed into quarantine quarters for COVID-19 cases.

"It has a 40-bed capacity and will cater to individuals tested positive for COVID-19 but classified as asymptomatic to mild cases," he said.

According to the DPWH, the provisional COVID-19 patient care center will be managed by the provincial government of Lanao del Sur under Gov.  Mamintal Adiong Jr.

“The newly turned over facility will provide the much-needed boost to the health care capacity of Lanao del Sur.  With the new facility, those who will be infected with the virus will be isolated away from their communities and further halt the spread of the disease," DPWH Undersecretary and Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of National and Local Health Facilities head Emil K. Sadain, who represented Villar in the  turnover ceremony, said.

MARAWI TRANSCENTRAL ROADS

Meanwhile, the DPWH is eyeing the completion of the two ongoing contract packages for the design and build of the Marawi Transcentral Roads by February.

Villar said the 99 percent complete contract Package 2 covers the rehabilitation and improvement of MSU-GMA Road and Lumindong-Amai Pakpak Ave. 

"Our team from the DPWH Unified Project Management Office Operations (UPMO) headed by Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain has just finished an inspection and a walkthrough of the Marawi Transcentral Roads and we are on track to see the revitalization and renaissance that Marawi City is close to realizing," Villar said.

According to Sadain, finishing touches are now being done  by contractor Kouzbary Builders for the completion of the contract Package 2 with a total project length of 4.11 kilometers.
