BACOLOD CITY - An incumbent councilor of Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental was gunned down by unidentified men on motorcycles at his residence in Purok 3, Barangay Poblacion on Sunday, January 10.
Police identified the victim as Councilor Rude Anthony "Tonton" Melodia, 29.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was washing his car when three perpetrators on board two motorcycles arrived, and shot him.
The perpetrators then fled, leaving the victim with gunshot wounds.
Melodia was brought to Bayawan District Hospital where he was declared dead.
Police recovered from the crime scene four empty shells of .45 caliber.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.
