A U-turn slot along EDSA in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City will be closed to vehicular traffic starting January 11, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Friday.
MMDA said the closure of the said U-turn slot is in line with the EDSA Busway project of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr).
Because of this, MMDA advised motorists to take detours for the following routes: To those coming from EDSA northbound and going southbound, affected vehicles may use the Monumento Circle while those coming from Quezon City may take the route in Balintawak Cloverleaf.
According to MMDA, the EDSA Busway will be starting to designate the innermost lane of EDSA as an exclusive lane for public utility buses (PUBs) travelling along the national highway, particularly those traveling from Monumento in Caloocan to SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
The closure of the said U-turn slot would have been done earlier but the MMDA deferred it due to holidays.
Currently, MMDA said, it already closed six U-turn slots to give way to the EDSA Busway Project.
